About the Women Cell

The Women Cell of Akhilabhagya Post Graduate College, Ranapar, Gorakhpur (Affiliated to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur) has been established to promote the welfare, safety, dignity, and empowerment of women students and employees. The Cell is dedicated to creating an inclusive, respectful, and gender-sensitive campus environment where women can pursue their academic and professional aspirations with confidence and security.
The Women Cell works to foster awareness of women's rights, gender equality, health, safety, leadership, and legal literacy through counselling, awareness programmes, workshops, seminars, and outreach activities. It also collaborates with the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and other institutional bodies to strengthen gender equity and ensure a supportive campus culture.

To create a safe, inclusive, and empowering educational environment where every woman is respected, supported, and encouraged to realize her full academic, personal, and leadership potential.

Mission
• To promote gender equality and women's empowerment across the campus.
• To provide a supportive environment that encourages women's academic, personal, and professional growth.
• To create awareness about women's rights, legal protections, health, and well-being.
• To encourage leadership, self-confidence, and active participation of women in academic, cultural, sports, research, and extension activities.
• To foster mutual respect, dignity, and gender sensitivity among all members of the College community.
• To collaborate with institutional committees and external agencies for the promotion of women's welfare.

Objectives
• To promote the overall development and empowerment of women students and employees.
• To create awareness regarding constitutional rights, legal safeguards, and Government initiatives for women.
• To organize programmes on health, hygiene, nutrition, self-defence, financial literacy, digital literacy, and career development.
• To encourage women's participation in leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, and community engagement.
• To promote gender sensitization and prevent discrimination based on gender.
• To support women through guidance, mentoring, and counselling services.

Functions of the Women Cell

The Women Cell shall: • Organize seminars, workshops, lectures, awareness campaigns, and interactive sessions on women's issues and gender equality.
• Conduct programmes on health, mental well-being, menstrual hygiene, nutrition, and self-defence.
• Provide guidance and counselling for women students and employees.
• Encourage women's participation in academic, co-curricular, research, sports, and extension activities.
• Promote leadership development, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and skill enhancement among women.
• Coordinate with the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and other statutory bodies to promote a safe and inclusive campus.
• Celebrate important national and international observances related to women's empowerment.
• Maintain records of activities and submit periodic reports to the College authorities.

Student Support

The Women Cell provides support and guidance to women students regarding:
• Personal counselling and mentoring.
• Academic and career guidance.
• Health and wellness awareness.
• Leadership and personality development.
• Information on Government schemes and scholarships for women.
• Referral to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), where appropriate, for matters relating to sexual harassment.
