About the OBC Cell
The Other Backward Classes (OBC) Cell of Akhilabhagya Post Graduate College, Ranapar, Gorakhpur (Affiliated to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur) has been constituted in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Government of India to safeguard the interests of students and employees belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC).
The Cell is committed to promoting an inclusive, equitable, and discrimination-free academic environment by ensuring effective implementation of Government policies relating to reservation, welfare measures, scholarships, and grievance redressal for OBC students and staff.

To create an inclusive, equitable, and socially just academic environment where students and employees belonging to the Other Backward Classes have equal opportunities for academic excellence, personal growth, and professional development.
Mission
• To safeguard the rights and interests of OBC students and employees.
• To ensure effective implementation of Government of India and UGC policies regarding reservation and welfare.
• To promote equal opportunities in academic, co-curricular, and administrative activities.
• To create awareness about scholarships, fellowships, fee reimbursement, and other welfare schemes available for OBC students.
• To provide a transparent and effective mechanism for addressing grievances related to discrimination or denial of legitimate rights.
• To foster an atmosphere of dignity, mutual respect, and social harmony within the institution.
Objectives
• Ensure proper implementation of reservation policies in admissions, recruitment, and other institutional activities.
• Promote educational, social, and economic empowerment of OBC students.
• Facilitate dissemination of information regarding Government welfare schemes.
• Provide guidance and counselling to OBC students regarding academic and career opportunities.
• Prevent discrimination on the basis of caste or social background.
• Coordinate with statutory bodies and Government agencies for matters relating to OBC welfare.
Functions of the OBC Cell
The OBC Cell shall:
• Address grievances and complaints of OBC students and employees.
• Monitor the implementation of reservation policies and Government guidelines.
• Maintain records relating to OBC students, scholarships, and welfare initiatives.
• Organize awareness programmes, workshops, seminars, and counselling sessions.
• Assist eligible students in obtaining scholarships, fellowships, and other Government benefits.
• Recommend suitable measures to the College administration for promoting the welfare and advancement of OBC students and employees.
• Submit periodic reports to the College authorities regarding the activities of the Cell.
Grievance Redressal
Any student or employee belonging to the Other Backward Classes who experiences discrimination or has any grievance related to reservation, scholarship, welfare measures, or equal opportunity may submit a written application to the Coordinator of the OBC Cell or contact the College Office.
All grievances received by the Cell shall be treated confidentially and addressed promptly in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations of the Government of India, the University Grants Commission (UGC), and the College.
